Hlafweard is one of the older inhabitants of Aster Village. Elected as the city head guard long ago, he's fairly strong, but gets very little to do as an actual job since the Survivalists, and now occasionally the Samaritans, are the ones who have the job to defend the village from Absolutes and threats from outside. Nowadays, all he does is basically ensure that the inhabitants live a quiet life and do not fight with each other, making sure law is respected.
His prestigious position allows him to have a say in decisions that involve the city's future.

The countinous belittling he recieves from the Survivalist's guild leaders and the foundation of the Samaritans has fueled sort of a hate towards not just the leaders, but all of the guilds. He is surprisingly pretty incompetent at handling any kind of crisis, despite being on par in strength and skill with any Guild Leader. (Except maybe Charybdis.) 

He's quick to blame any problems that are going down in the city on the guilds, and is desperate to be taken seriously, for once.

His armor has a slight golden hue, result of him stealing the armor from a shiny Shelmet back when he wasn't still affiliated with Aster Village. He doesn't like to talk about his past prior this event.
